Bible
Fifty-six short read-aloud lessons walking through the best-known Bible stories from Creation to Jesus.
About this course
Kindergarten Bible is a story year. It moves straight through the accounts a young student meets first: the six days of Creation and God's rest, the garden of Eden and the first family, Noah and the ark and the rainbow promise, Abraham and Sarah waiting for Isaac, baby Moses in the basket through the burning bush and the crossing of the Red Sea, and then the birth of Jesus told from the angel's visit to Mary all the way to the wise men. The last two units turn from stories to the people in them: Jesus feeding the five thousand, calming the storm, and welcoming the children, and then nine short lessons on kindness, honesty, courage, patience, helpfulness, thankfulness, forgiveness, gentleness, and love.
The course is 8 units and 56 lessons in all, and a lesson is planned for about 15 minutes. It is written for you to read aloud, not for your student to read alone. The teaching page is laid out as a script with "say to your child" and "ask your child" prompts built in, a short KJV verse to say together, and a simple hands-on activity that uses what is already in the house, such as a jar and slips of paper for kind deeds, a dish of water and some blocks to part the Red Sea, or crayons and a sheet of paper. Every lesson closes with a ten-question multiple-choice quiz that grades itself, and at this age most families read the questions aloud together.
Nothing is assumed except that your student can listen and answer out loud. No reading, writing, or prior Bible knowledge is required. Verses are King James, kept short and repeated so they can be memorized by ear. The tone is gentle throughout: the flood, the serpent in the garden, and the plagues on Egypt are all told plainly but without frightening detail, and each one ends on God keeping His promise. A Bible or children's Bible, a pencil, and crayons are all you will need.

Baby Moses in the Basket
Today we learn: God kept baby Moses safe in a very special way!
Many years after Abraham, God's people (called the Israelites) lived in Egypt. A mean king called Pharaoh made them work very hard as slaves. Then Pharaoh made a terrible rule: all Israelite baby boys must be thrown in the river!
Moses' mother loved her baby boy and hid him for three months. When she could hide him no longer, she made a basket from reeds and covered it with tar so it would float. She placed baby Moses in the basket and set it in the river.
Parent: Ask: "Why did Moses' mother put him in the basket? What was she hoping?"
"And she said to his sister, Stand afar off, to wit what shall be done to him." — Exodus 2:4 (KJV)
Moses' big sister Miriam watched from a distance. Then Pharaoh's own daughter came to the river, found the basket, and opened it. Baby Moses was crying. She felt sorry for him!
Miriam ran up and said: "Shall I go call a nurse for the baby?" Pharaoh's daughter said yes — and Miriam brought Moses' own mother to nurse him! God kept Moses with his mother a little longer.
Key Truth: God watches over His people. Even in scary times, God has a plan!
Memory Verse: "I will trust, and not be afraid." — Isaiah 12:2b (KJV)
Activity — Basket Boat: Crumple a small piece of paper into a ball (baby Moses). Place it inside a bowl. Gently pour a little water around it. Watch it float! Say: "Just like this, God kept Moses safe!"
