A senior capstone in 180 lessons: whole-Bible theology, hermeneutics, apologetics, church history, and a personal ethical framework.
About this course
Twelfth grade is written as a capstone, and it says so. The survey units step back and ask structural questions: how the canon was recognized and on what historical timeline, why the Hebrew Bible was ordered as it was, how Kings and Chronicles tell the same history two different ways, how the Messiah is traced as prophet, priest, and king, what the atonement actually accomplished, and how Revelation works as apocalyptic literature. The Old Testament unit devotes a full lesson to the problem of divinely commanded violence, setting out four frameworks for reading the conquest and then asking your student to write a paragraph answering the objection that the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New are two different Gods. Bible study skills are a full hermeneutics course covering the literal-historical-grammatical method, inductive study, genre, the three lenses of context, word studies without overreach, using commentaries without surrendering your own eyes, five common ways readers go astray, and a framework for the passages that trouble honest readers.
Ethics comes around twice and ends with the student writing a personal code of ethics from Scripture. Along the way it covers the sanctity of life, sexuality framed as covenant rather than as a list of prohibitions, bioethics and new medical technology, generosity and honest dealing, Christian citizenship, environmental stewardship, attention and speech in a connected world, race and justice, and the church-and-state question worked through Scripture's own warnings. The race lesson names racism as sin, reckons honestly with how some in the church defended slavery and segregation, and argues that critical race theory's oppressor-and-oppressed categories come from Marxism rather than Scripture. On church and state the Anabaptist two-kingdoms reading is presented as the course's own position.
The course is 180 lessons across 15 units, one per school day, at about 30 minutes each. Every single lesson closes with Reflect and Engage or Synthesis prompts that call for a written answer, not just recognition, and then a ten-question multiple-choice quiz that grades itself. Several lessons are explicit capstones: build a lifelong Bible study plan, articulate a personal apologetic, write your life's creed. This is a senior course written for a student about to leave home, and the character unit says so plainly, closing on identity, vocation, friendship and marriage, suffering, and leaving a godly legacy.

What this lesson is for
Students will learn about how Worldview - lesson 7
Students will memorize the day's Bible verse
Students will apply the lesson to daily life
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
New Age Spirituality and Eastern Thought
New Age spirituality is not a unified religion but a diffuse cultural movement that draws from Eastern religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism), Western occultism, and therapeutic psychology. It emerged visibly in the 1960s–70s and has become one of the most widespread alternative spiritualities in the West, appearing in wellness culture, yoga studios, self-help books, and popular media.
Core New Age and Eastern Themes
Pantheism: God is not a personal being distinct from creation — God is everything. The universe itself is divine. You are divine. This is sometimes expressed as "we are all one."
Monism: Ultimate reality is one undifferentiated whole. The distinctions we perceive between self and other, good and evil, are illusions (maya in Hinduism). The spiritual goal is to dissolve into this undifferentiated whole.
Karma and reincarnation: Moral consequences carry over between lifetimes. You are working out spiritual debt across many lives. There is no final judgment and no Savior — only gradual spiritual progress through successive rebirths.
Inner divinity: You contain the divine within you. Spiritual practice — meditation, mindfulness, crystal work, astrology — helps you access and develop this inner light. You do not need a mediator between yourself and ultimate reality.
Moral relativism: Because all is one and distinctions are illusions, traditional categories of right and wrong are limitations to transcend.
The Christian Response
Christianity affirms a personal Creator who is distinct from His creation. Human beings are made in the image of God — but we are not God. Sin is real, not illusory. There is one life, one death, and one judgment (Hebrews 9:27). Salvation comes not from within but from above — through Christ alone.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." — John 3:16
Reflect: Why is the concept of inner divinity — "you are your own god" — so appealing? What does it promise, and what does it cost?
Synthesis: Write a paragraph explaining why karma and grace are incompatible. What does each say about the human problem and its solution? Which worldview more honestly confronts the depth of human moral failure?
