Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.
Romans 12:10
Today we learn the Spanish alphabet — el abecedario! The Spanish alphabet has 27 letters, just like English but with one extra: ñ (which makes the 'ny' sound like in 'canyon'). The letters look the same as English but some sound different. Point to each letter and say its Spanish name: a, be, ce, de, e, efe, ge, hache, i, jota, ka, ele, eme, ene, eñe, o, pe, cu, erre, ese, te, u, uve, doble uve, equis, ye, zeta!
Activity: Write out the Spanish alphabet in your neatest handwriting. Say each letter's name as you write it. Then circle the letter ñ because it is special and unique to Spanish! Practice saying the alphabet song — it is similar to the English one — until you can say it from memory with a friend.
God uses letters and words to communicate His truth to us. Psalm 119:105 says, 'Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.' Learning the Spanish alphabet opens the door to reading God's Word in another language. Every letter you learn brings you one step closer to reading La Biblia in español!
